How Can You Recover from Toxic Injury?

In my recent presentation at the American Academy of Environmental Medicine conference, I spoke about limbic system neuro-rehabilitation as a viable form of treatment for chemical sensitivities and other limbic system dysfunction disorders that are associated with toxic injury.

With the increase of environmental illnesses such as chemical sensitivities; chronic fatigue syndrome; fibromyalgia; food sensitivities and electric hypersensitivity syndrome reaching epidemic levels, it’s time for a new understanding of how brain function is altered with toxic trauma - and more importantly - how to heal the brain.

In a recent medical study, entitled “Chemical Intolerance in Primary Care Settings” suggests that one in four people suffer from chemical intolerance which can be associated with toxic trauma and toxic overload in the body.

Yes, that means millions upon millions of people are suffering.

For some the symptoms may be mild like headaches from exposure to perfume or fabric softener; or unexplained chronic joint or muscle pain and insomnia; while for others they can be completely neurologically and physically disabled by symptoms and can no longer work or participate in everyday social situations or environments.

The November 2013 issue of Discover Magazine speaks to both toxic injury and self-directed neuroplasticity. One article entitled Allergic to Life, features the work of Dr. Claudia Miller and mentions how limbic system sensitization is involved with Chemical Intolerance.

Another article about Dr. Jeffery Schwartz entitled In Defense of Free Will, speaks to the understanding that our thoughts and behaviours can structurally change brain structure and function.

Chemical intolerance is also associated with limbic system dysfunction in the brain. Often times a chemical injury will trigger a fight or flight state and catapult the brain and body into a state of chronic stress. This can alter or heighten sensory perception that keeps the brain and body stuck in a chronic stress response leading to a downward spiral of deteriorating health.

The underlying cause is not a mystery - chemical injury and toxic overload from common every day exposures can trigger illness. From our personal hygiene products, to our medications, pesticides, our complete addiction to wireless technology, to our building practices and our food supply.

For the millions of people who suffer from Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, the simple things in life can become huge obstacles. It can feel like you are literally allergic to almost everything, and as such your life becomes very small and isolated. Simple things like going to the mall, the dentist or getting your hair cut are just simply out of the question. Each one of these outings would involve going into a public place where you knew that you would be exposed to chemicals and fragrances.

However through the Dynamic Neural Retraining System and limbic system neuro-rehabilitation, people are being liberated from their suffering and stepping into the world again.

Take Karyn for instance. She had been suffering from Multiple Chemical Sensitivities for 18 years and more recently from Electric Hypersensivity Syndrome as well. Karyn was so happy to report that recently she did something that was completely unimaginable to her just a couple of months ago. She went and got her hair cut!

Karyn reports “I am really loving this thing called living right now. Today I GOT MY HAIR CUT! It was so spur of the moment and amazing and well-- what can I say other than that the Dynamic Neural Retraining System truly ROCKS!

I can't believe how many years I lived in limbic system impairment when all I needed to do was rewire my brain! I am so happy (albeit a little chilly). I've been changing so much on the inside but today I made a change on the outside that has been a long time coming! "

If you are ready to transform your health and step into the world again, then please join us at our last program of the year

Ocean Resort Wellness Centre
Vancouver Island, British Columbia
December 5 – 9, 2013

If we rent 20 rooms at the Ocean Resort during this time, they will graciously turn off the wireless in the entire hotel during the duration of the program – thus making it an ideal space for those who suffer from severe electric hypersensitivity as well.

So, please sign up before November 15 to take advantage of our Early Bird deadline and create the best possible learning and healing environment for all. We look forward to hearing from you!

How does DNRS work?

The Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS) is a limbic system neural rehabilitation program for people suffering from chronic conditions, including and not limited to:

• Multiple Chemical Sensitivities
• Fibromyalgia
• Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
• Gulf War Syndrome
• Food Sensitivities
• Electric Hypersensitivity Syndrome
• Anxiety Disorders

Many of these illnesses are characterized as Toxicant Induced Loss of Tolerance or TILT associated illnesses.

Trauma from chemical injury, bacteria, viruses, electromagnetic fields as well as emotional and psychological stress can shock the brain into disorganizing neural circuits resulting in over-activated threat, survival and protective mechanisms within the limbic system.

The techniques used in the DNRS are based on neuroplasticity therapy, which re-wires the brain to build more functional neural pathways.

The program recruits dormant or new pathways in the brain to restore normal function. This is similar to the rehab of a stroke patient who learns to recruit other parts of the brain to take over function for the injured area.

DNRS systematically demonstrates how to re-wire neural circuits in the limbic system that influence survival and stress mechanisms, pain, sensory perception, detoxification, immune function and inflammatory responses.
